California: Twitter has been criticized by users for spreading fake news and receiving blue ticks.

Earlier, the process of getting a blue tick on Twitter as a mark of official pages was a bit difficult. Journalists, news organizations and celebrities were awarded a Blue Tick based on credibility. In this case, due to Elon Musk’s new law, many fake accounts spreading fake news are getting blue ticks. Twitter users have accused the practice of spreading fake news.

Recently, US President Joe Biden severely criticized that ‘Ellen Musk bought Twitter to spread lies’. It is in this situation that users are criticizing the mistakes made in getting a blue tick on Twitter.

Earlier, the company came under Elon Musk’s control after the deal to buy Twitter for $44 billion (Rs 3.65 lakh crore) was completed. The first step was to fire Barak Agarwal, who was the CEO of Twitter. He also fired chief financial officer Ned Segal, legal head Vijaya Kate and general counsel Sean Edgell. Additionally, nearly half (50%) of Twitter’s total employees were laid off, including those who had been with Twitter for years and held key positions.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk has officially announced that Twitter will pay $8 per month to get Blue Tick. Despite criticism, Elon Musk’s announcement has come to fruition.
