BSEF is a cyber platform developed by the Kerala Police CyberDome with the objective of preventing cyber crime, educating the public on cyber technology and cyber security, and alerting cyber frauds and spam calls. BSEF has included various features related to cyber security and awareness.

∙ Biscan

The Biscayn feature helps us understand the permissions we give to the apps we install and how secure they are. At Biscayne you can check if the installed apps have access to photos, call logs, cameras, screen recordings, etc., and are allowed to read sensitive messages such as banking information. AppScan enables its technical validity by incorporating more than two million Android apps available in the PlayStore into the Biscon database.

In security scanning, systems scan and generate scores for security issues and malware of the scanning application. This feature is currently only available for Android applications. An iOS version will also be available in the future.

‌ Scam / Spam Calls

Identifies and blocks ‌scom / spam calls. Suspicious numbers can be identified and blocked by searching the database of numbers reported as spam / fraud numbers.

Community reporting

The public has the facility to report annoying phone numbers such as scam / spam and sales as well as suspicious apps.

IMEI Search

Helps to identify the authenticity of the mobile device. With this feature it is possible to know whether it is a stolen phone or not. The device’s authenticity is checked by IMEI searching the stolen phone’s IMEI numbers in the updated database.

Directory of Verified Numbers

The authenticity of the numbers can be checked from the directory. BISSEF CASTS – The Kerala Police broadcasts podcasts on various topics related to cyber security from the CyberDome on popular Podcast platforms such as Ghana, Google and Spotify and through the BISSEF website. You can also read scam stories on the BICEF site.

E-book

CyberDome has released an e-book called Bisef, which details various types of cyber fraud, its modus operandi and ways to prevent such scams. The e-book includes information on cybercrime reporting and an online code of contacts.

PowerPoint presentations are a collection of information on a wide range of topics aimed at raising cyber security awareness among the general public.

∙ Bicef Tox

The app provides monthly webinars on various cyber scams and cyber security issues. During the lockdown, BSafe gained attention by providing the E Curfew Pass service. The BSEF platform, which has successfully completed two years, has entered its third year. The BISEF service is available to the public as a web application and mobile application.
