Bastin appoints Grand George as CEO of Decathlon France

Decathlon, a sports production and distribution group, has a new manager for its French branch: Bastin Grand George, who joined the company as an intern 10 years ago.

Bastin Grand George will take over his new duties from October 2022. He will be replaced by Arnaud Gauqueline and Fabrice Lizardi. Their mandate to head the brand in France is coming to an end, Decathlon said in a press release. In the future, they will have to take on new activities internally.

After an internship at a Decathlon store in Ic‌s-en-Provence in 2002, Decathlon’s new CEO took various positions in retail and supported brand development internationally: from 2012 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and from 2014 in Southeast Asia and finally in 2017 in Ireland. Until now, he has been the Managing Director of Decathlon Ireland.

Over the past few years, Decathlon has digitized its model, upgraded its logistics platforms, and recorded sales of 13. 13.8 billion in 2021, well above its pre-Kovid-19 level. The company indicates that it will end in 2021 with an increase of +22%.
