Mark Elliott fired Great British back off in the quarterfinals.

It was dessert week in the back of the tent, but Mark had a good time with some tough challenges.

He struggled the most with the showstopper – Paul Hollywood compared the base of his jelly cake to concrete – and finally sent it home.

Mark, who talked about his exit just before the semi-finals, seems surprised that he is going home.

“I am just happy to be in the quarterfinals,” he said. ‘I did not expect to get this far, so I think it was a great experience and I’m glad my two daughters were able to share it with me.

‘I came to the back off to deal with my anxiety and failure and to deal with all the things that people are absolutely uncomfortable with dealing with.

‘I definitely learned a little more about myself, to give me some credit for what people said, I’m not doing it!’

“I’ll see you with my girls from here on out. It’s a little calmer. I’m not in it now,” he added.

It will be great to see the rest of the Bakers advance to the semi-finals and final.

Paul Loss was adamant that he had participated in the greatest ‘journey’ of all the Bakers: ‘Every week he got better and better. ‘

A few more days in the tent for Herm, nicknamed the Star Baker, after influencing the judges throughout the three challenges.

‘I can not believe it,’ she told the camera. ‘I still see myself in the tent, panicked about whether that jelly would be ready or not.

‘I can’t believe they liked that flower!’

Despite struggling for the past few weeks, Laura had a great week on the show – almost booted out at last week’s show.

This means that Laura, Peter, David and Hermin have all reached the semi – finals next week, and it’s close to a place.

The Great British Back Off continues on Channel 4 at 8pm on Tuesday.
