The Irish Army will help the airport over the summer to simplify security checks

Dublin airport is struggling: for weeks, the establishment has been plagued with chaotic scenes, between endless queues, stressed and disgruntled users… Not to mention a significant number of passengers missing their flights… Reason: lack of supervision by staff, especially at the level of security checks!
Faced with the inability to completely improve the situation, the Irish Army is ready to mobilize and train to help Dublin Airport in its distress. The beginning of a solution!

The Irish Army plans to train to cope with high tourist flows

It’s a shame: now that the tourist season is back in full swing in Ireland, Dublin Airport is barely able to regain its pre-Covid-19 efficiency. Its lack of staff causes major disruptions, leading to queues even on the sidewalks outside, congestion at the level of security checks, resulting in delayed flights, and many frustrations among passengers!

Transport Minister Eamonn Ryan sought the help of Defense Minister Simon Coveney to resolve the issue. Both have agreed to train and certify the Irish Army to streamline airport services.

Therefore, to effectively cover the summer, the army will assist the establishment for at least 6 weeks.

A spokesman for Dublin Airport said on Monday it was on track to meet its target of deploying more than 900 security guards by the end of June. Even better: They hope to add 100 more in July.

As a reminder, the airport laid off 25% of its staff at the height of the pandemic and is now struggling to recruit en masse. Nearly 1,000 passengers missed their flights last month, sparking anger and frustration. Four airlines had complained to the organization stating that this situation was unacceptable.

One thing is for sure: the support of the Irish Army should give summer travelers peace and quiet. Anything more?
