Despite being a fun and tough game, rugby has led to a shadow existence in Austria. Nine million men and women between the ages of six and 60 play rugby worldwide. The wide range of skills and physical requirements required means that people of all builds, shapes and sizes have the opportunity to practice it. If fans flock to countries like France, Ireland, England or Italy, rugby in the Alpine Republic will not go beyond amateur status. EThere are very few clubs in Austria that are trying with all their heart and passion to breathe more life into rugby. In Carinthia, Annexia-Tigers are Klagenfurt, who have been an independent club since 2008 and entered championship mode in 2014.
