2008 Olympics gold medallist Abhinav Bindra led the way as capturing fraternity paid homage to former India shooter Pournima Zanane who handed absent a short while ago after a hard-fought fight with Cancer.
The 42-year-outdated, who was a countrywide history holder in 10m air rifle party, represented the state at many ISSF Planet Cups, Asian Championships and other events. Afterwards on, following retiring in 2012, she took to coaching and was also honoured with the Shiv Chhatrapati Sporting activities award by the Maharashtra government.

“Deeply stunned and distressed by the information of untimely demise of an old close friend Pournima Zanane. She was an intercontinental shooter and ISSF coach. Our friendship goes back to junior staff times.. But we will meet up with sometime, somewhere once again,” reported veteran shooter Joydeep Karmakar on Twitter.

“We are not able to imagine that you are no more time with us. This is a tragedy for us, we will pray for you pricey good friend Pournima Zanane. Relaxation in peace,” stated Jaspal Rana.
Former Indian shooter Suma Shirur reported: “Pournima Zanane’s untimely departure from the planet is pretty unfortunate news. As a colleague & competitor, her energy & enthusiasm to do matters irrespective of a prolonged disease will normally be remembered! My teammate in the Railways, we gained quite a few medals with each other both of those national & worldwide.”
