A truck collided head-on with a truck on a highway in the US state of Texas at around 9 a.m. yesterday. No one was injured in the accident.
Out of a total of 110 vehicles, 13 derailed, five of which carried gasoline, which helped keep the fire burning for hours. The situation at the scene was categorized by the authorities as having contact with dangerous objects at the scene.
Police received a report of the accident around 6:45 am local time. Emergency teams were called for first aid. No casualties were reported in the blast. Train crews and truck drivers were able to testify to the accident.
“As a precaution, local authorities have set up an evacuation zone of about 800 meters near the site. The cause is being investigated, “said Courtney Wallace, BNSF’s (train maintenance company) communications director.
As a precautionary measure, yesterday, police evacuated homes closest to the crash site, urging citizens to avoid going on National Highway 90.
