‘A dirty howl’ – Britannia the worst UK hotel chain in eight years | UK News

Published on

Britannia has been voted the worst hotel chain in the UK for the eighth year in a row after guests described their venues as “dirty”.

Which is the only company that received only one in five stars for hygiene after a survey of over 4,000 people by a consumer group?

Despite being one of the cheapest chains in the UK, with rooms averaging $ 58 a night, guests still pay only one star to Britannia for the value for money.

One customer described the Britannia venue as a “dirty howl” and another claimed it was “the worst hotel room I’ve ever stayed in”.

Which one? As part of a special investigation into the hotel’s cleanliness, Foxstone, also known as Grand Burstin, visited Britannia and found stray fur and dirty towels.

Further tests indicate that the surfaces have not been thoroughly cleaned during the stay.

Britannia, which includes Liverpool’s Adelphi Hotel and Scarborough’s Grand Hotel, received 37% of the total customer score, finishing last.

We are fully committed to providing a safe environment for visitors. We have spent $ 2 million so far on COVID-19 precautions, but we acknowledge that there is still much to be done.

Mercury had the second lowest overall score of 60%, followed by Days in Hotels 62%.

At the other end of the list in terms of performance and price was Sofitel.

The London-based luxury chain owns 86% of Heathrow, Gatwick and St James’ properties.

But this is far ahead of the Premier Inn (82%), with guests praising the reliable quality offered at a reasonable price.

Rory Bolland is the editor of which magazine? Travel said: “Even the global pandemic does not seem to be pushing Britannia to clean up its operations.
