The deadly wildfire across Oregon has displaced more than half a million people as US President Donald Trump announced plans to visit California to learn more about the devastation caused by the largest fire in state history.

Thousands of homes were burned in recent days in Oregon, the latest epicenter of summer fires affecting western America, with a New Jersey-sized landslide burning and killing 25 people.

As of Saturday morning, tens of thousands of firefighters were facing 28 major wildfires across the state of California, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. With the exception of one in Cisco County, most are covered to an extent that has grown out of control.

The White House said on Monday that Trump would meet with local and federal officials at McLellan Park near the state capital, Sacramento, and then travel to Nevada for a fundraiser to visit again for the election campaign. He had been sharply critical of California before allowing the conditions he said wildfires should be allowed.

In a statement on Saturday, his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, said: “Wildfires show that there is no greater challenge to our future than to overcome the climate crisis.

One of the biggest records in California and Oregon, fire storms were driven by high winds. Scientists say global warming is exacerbated during the wet and dry seasons, when plants thrive and then dry out, fueling wildfires.

Oregon state officials have warned of “mass deaths” as they search for burned remains for dozens of people reported missing.

The Pacific Northeast as a whole has been hit hard by the impact of the attack, which began on Labor Day, the first Monday in September, darkening the sky with smoke and ash, including some of the worst air in the world in northern California, Oregon and Washington. Quality level.

‘Perfect Storm’

“It simply came to our notice then. It’s real, it’s happening. This is the perfect hurricane, “said California Gov. Gavin Newsom, chief of The Christian Science Monitor’s Washington bureau.

Over the past three weeks, 4,000 homes and other structures have been burned in California alone.

In southern Oregon, a scene of scorched residential subdivisions and trailer parks stretches for miles through neighboring towns of Phoenix and Talent on Highway 99 south of Medford, making it one of the most devastating areas.

The Mollah community evacuated 40 kilometers south of Portland, about 40 people, but only 30 refused to leave after being told to evacuate more than 9,000 workers, the city fire department said.

Loggington was at the forefront of a vast fleet of refugees extending north within 5 miles of Portland Downtown. The sheriff of suburban Claucamus County imposed a curfew at 10 p.m., to prevent “increased criminal activity.”

In Portland, the Multinoma County Sheriff punished residents who set themselves up to set up checkpoints and park cars following the spread of conspiracy theories that anti-Trump left-wing activists were starting some fires.

More than 500,000 people are at one of the three evacuation alert levels, Brown said at a news conference, advising them to pack and be vigilant, to be prepared to flee from a moment’s notice or to leave immediately. About 40,000 of them had already been instructed to leave.

Break in the weather

After four days of treacherous, windy weather, a glimmer of hope came in the form of wind blowing from the ocean, bringing cold and humid conditions, and firefighters were unchecked early in the week.

The death toll from a western wildfire that began in August has risen to 25 after seven people were reported killed in the mountains north of Sacramento, California. Oregon’s fifth death was reported in Marion County, just outside the state capital, Salem.

According to the Purple Air Monitoring site, Paradise, the worst wildfire in California in 2018, has the worst air quality index reading in the world at 592. Two of the state’s largest fires burned on both sides of it. – Reuters
