Cleveland, Ohio – The first call Josh Nailer received on Monday following sales news from San Diego to Cleveland was from his younger brother Bo Nailer, the first Indian draft pick of 2018.
But while he’s considering a brother from a completely different background, the older Naylor will be waiting for the day when he’s bought the field with his persistence in a major league match and he’s staying in the play played by Reyes, a friend of the former Padres player.
“He’s my family, man,” Neyler said of Reyes Cleveland 10-1 win over Kansas City Tuesday. “His family is my family. I love him to death.”
Nailer said Reyes developed a close relationship with Reyes in San Diego last July before being traded to Cleveland. In an interview with Post Game Zoom, Reyes told reporters that his children call Nailer “Uncle Josh.”
“I like it,” Neyler said. “He has beautiful children. He is like a brother to me and I will take care of him like one of my own. ”
On Tuesday, Nailer and Reyes had an unforgettable game. Reyes collected five hits in the second inning, including a two-run home run. Nailer posted his first two Indian hits and an RBI. For Nailer, the scene was reminiscent of Reyes’ time with Padres, where he demonstrated his true potential.
“It doesn’t matter where he plays, he’s the same monster,” Nailer said. He has incredible power in all parts of the region. He swings hard, and things happen throughout the game. ”
Meanwhile, Nailer’s real brother has been working at an alternative training site in Cleveland, East Lake, since July. Now that Big Brother is on the way to playing on the progressive field, the Nailers are very close to realizing their childhood dream of playing together on the same Big League team.
“I hope he’s here soon, in this line with me,” said Josh Neyler. “Hope the stars are deployed and we are in the same row and hang out every day and live together. This should be an exciting time. ”
Nailer said his family was “above the moon” when he learned of the sale, but now suggestions from the club are to play their own game and enjoy themselves. Joining the Indians gives Nailer the opportunity to play regularly on Tuesday’s field, where he started the game on Tuesday, or on the first base, and finished it.
“It’s good that I’m going anywhere,” Neyler said. “Padress has prepared me well wherever I put myself to play Pad Tfield or play first. They helped me grow my game a lot and put me in a position where I could win anywhere I played. ”
Nailer said no player has been completed yet and there are areas where he still needs to work to establish himself in major leagues.
“Whether on the first base, on the left field or on the right field, if I can get a little better every day, I will do it,” Nailer said. “I will work hard and grow there and become the best player for Indians.”
