Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris on Tuesday called on the European Union to “review” commercial ties with the Zionist entity after the UN agency for Palestine refugees banned its activities.
The leader said this during the visit of the future president of the European Council, the Portuguese Antonio Costa, to Dublin. “The most important step the EU can take now is to review trade relations at EU level. What (the Zionist entity) did last night was despicable, disgraceful and shameful,” said Simon Harris.
“More people will die, more children will die of starvation,” he said. “I will discuss with Antonio Costa how Europe needs to find the moral courage to act on my opinion,” continued Simon Harris.
Ireland, along with Spain in particular, has been one of the most critical European countries of the Zionist entity since the start of the offensive against Gaza. The two countries, Norway – a non-EU member – and Slovenia recognized a Palestinian state in May and June.
On Monday evening, the four countries condemned in a joint statement the decision of the Zionist organization UNRWA “for millions of Palestinians, especially in the current situation in Gaza”.
“Ireland, Spain, Belgium, Slovenia and others are calling for more action at EU level, which I think will be very effective and will continue to defend this vision,” he said.
“There is no alternative to UNRWA. I'm not the only one saying this. He is the Secretary-General of the United Nations, he is the President of the United States through the State Department, and UNRWA is needed,” he insisted.
