Voted and awarded as one of Ireland's top 10 attractions for 2022 and 2023 TripAdvisor Travelers Choice Award In 2024, the estate spans over 45 hectares of parks and gardens surrounding the historic castle.

Originally a Norman structure dating from 1170, the castle has been significantly altered and extended since then and has been home to the Parsons family for over 400 years. The family – the Count and Countess of Ross – still live there, so the castle is not open to the public, but the vast gardens are a real joy to explore. The estate has a rare collection of over 5,000 species of trees and plants, diverse wildlife, peaceful trails and contains remarkable historical artefacts.
