    Eva Kylie, one of the vice-presidents of the European Parliament, was arrested this Friday (9). He was detained for questioning in Brussels, Belgium, as part of an investigation into corruption involving “a Gulf country” suspected to be Qatar, according to European media. Information from AFP.

    Kylie is a Greek Socialist MEP. She is an associate of Francesco Giorgi, one of the four suspects arrested hours earlier in an operation by agents of the Central Office to Fight Corruption in Brussels.

    – Investigators from the Federal Judiciary Police have suspected for several months that a Gulf country could influence the economic and political decisions of the European Parliament by paying large sums of money or giving large gifts to third parties. Interest and/or strategic position within the European Parliament – Belgium’s public ministry said in a note.

    The MP also reported that 600,000 euros (R$ 3,312) in cash were recovered in 16 searches at 14 addresses this Friday, in addition to the seizure of computers and cell phones.
