The Hubble Space Telescope recently captured a stunning image of a “spiral galaxy”. The space telescope also captured a shot of nearby stars in the Milky Way, which shine just like its galactic companion.

The European Space Agency originally released an image of the galaxy NGC 5495 on September 26. However, recently it has gone viral because the stars of the Milky Way are effectively photobombing the spiral galaxy.

According to the agency, 60 percent of galaxies are spiral galaxies. This means that most of the stars in the universe are contained in a galaxy like ours or the one seen in the new Hubble image.

Galaxy NGC 5495 is 300 million light years from Earth.

NGC 5495 is a ‘Seyfert galaxy’; According to a statement released by the European Space Agency, this means they are demonstrating activity at their centers. These galactic centers are powered by the supermassive black holes thought to be at the center of most galaxies in the universe.

“As well as NGC 5495, two stellar interlopers are visible in this image. One is outside the center of NGC 5495, and the other is very prominent close to the galaxy. While they share the same position in the sky, these objects are much closer to home than NGC 5495: they are stars from our own Milky Way,” the agency said. wrote in a note. Press release. The image, captured by Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3, shows the foreground of the galaxy and its core.
