This Halloween (Monday, October 31) the youth center in St. Oswald near Fristad is all about Harry Potter and his wizarding world. With an engaging program, Michaela Gruber and her team invite Halloween lovers big and small to celebrate the festival together.

ST. OSWALD/FR. Halloween originated not in the USA, as many people think, but in Ireland, where the Celtic inhabitants of that time celebrated the end of summer and the beginning of the cold season with a festival called “Samhain”. They believed that during this time the spirits of the dead and other supernatural beings visit our world.

Starts at 3.30 p.m

Halloween is now celebrated everywhere, with joy and all kinds of costumes representing this world and the afterlife. With Harry Potter, St Oswald’s Youth Center has, of course, chosen a very popular subject. For children aged six and up, the program starts with carving and hollowing pumpkins on Monday 31 October at 3.30pm – please bring your own or order from the organisers. There are also crafts, makeup, games and painting. At 4:45, the movie “Harry Potter – The Philosopher’s Stone” will be shown.

Escorted from house to house

Afterwards, the children, accompanied by a guide, go from house to house to collect sweets and perform as a merry, magical ensemble. Beginning at 8 p.m., youth twelve and older are especially invited to celebrate Halloween together. Of course, there will also be crafts, working with pumpkins, and magical games that will surely be a great evening. After all, it’s time for the big movie — hopefully “Dumbledore’s Secrets” will reveal all. The Youth Center of St. Oswald, in collaboration with the Cultural Association, is especially looking forward to many Halloween guests! Registration is requested at 0650/4588477 or michaela-gruber@gmx.net
