The Prime Minister accepts the victory of the Right/Far Right Front and resigns

Magdalena Andersson resigned as Prime Minister on Wednesday (September 14th), accepting the victory of the right-wing and far-right coalition in Sweden’s legislative elections.

This is the end of Magdalena Anderson. This Wednesday, the Swedish prime minister conceded the defeat of the left and the victory of the bloc formed by the right and far-right in the legislative elections, after an almost complete count of votes in a very tight ballot.

As a result, the Social Democratic leader has announced his resignation, which will be officially presented on Thursday.

The bloc, made up of three right-wing parties and the far-right Sweden Democrat (SD) party, “has a small majority, but still a majority,” she told a news conference.

So tomorrow (Thursday) I will ask to be relieved of my duties as Prime Minister and leave the rest to the President of Parliament,” she added.

According to final results covering 99% of polling stations, the right/far-right led by conservative Ulf Kristerson will win 176 seats, while the left bloc led by Ms Andersen will win 173 seats.

Sunday’s election was so tight that the full results would have to wait for the counting of a few tens of thousands of votes on Wednesday. By 7:45 pm local time (5:45 pm GMT) on Wednesday evening only a few people in the offices were missing.
