Wolfrath Every last Friday of the month, artists from different disciplines play at AWO. On March 25, the “Heart Devils” will be guests at Schulz.
The Cultural Bistro Cultural Event at AWO 2022 is available. Always on the last Friday of the month, from 7pm, various artists provide excellent musical entertainment in the large hall at Schulstraße 13. Admission is 10 euros each. Culture makers rest only in July during the holidays.
AWO’s culture team presented the first event for the home, which sold out in January. Dr. Mojo appeared with his program “The Little Vacation from Everyday Life”. This was followed in February by jazz singer Eva Kuroski from Oberhausen with her trilogy of songs, “The 2 Desserts and the Long Drot”. Both artists were able to inspire the Wolfrother audience, so they will be included in the Culture Bistro program again in the 2023 season.
“After two years of cultural absence, it’s amazing to be able to play my first concerts again and find the expected response from the audience,” says AWO Chairman Peter Swilling. “Now we’re waiting for” HeartDevils “from Remscheid to present their favorite LPs with their vinyl concert and tell the stories behind the songs.” March to AWO’s Culture Bistro.
In addition to the popular music of the 1960s, not only the Hart Devils, but also the “Old Frieds” from Wuppertal, April 29, and the AWO Culture Team are included in the program. In May, “Drousey Maggie”, better known as Wolfrath and partly from Wolfrath, arrives on an Irish evening. The cultural group always tries to bring the food range according to the respective music guests. That’s why Irish food and Irish drinks are definitely on offer in Irish evenings.
The first half of the cultural program will end before the summer holidays with the performance of singer and songwriter Julika. She was able to inspire the Wolfrother family in the tunnel of that time a few years ago. Julika will present her new and modern songs as well as the songs she has covered.
The end of the summer vacation will be announced again with jazz, i.e. on August 26th. Then “on queue” occurs. Sixes Peace Combo from Cologne and Alexandra Steg, who has a strong voice in the microphone, will also inspire jazz fans from Wolfrath. Together with Michael Walker, the cultural team added a multi-instrumentalist to the program in September. Walker, as Michelle, travels back to the Middle Ages and takes guests on a journey through time using a variety of tools.
If contagion allows, in the opinion of the culture team, there should be a big song together in October. The Johannes brand specializes in popular songs that everyone knows and can sing together. Niederhainer from Wessel comes up with the program “Sing Ma Mit” at the meeting. He inspires and excites the audience with his guitar and blurry lyrics to a polyphonic choir.
At the end of November’s Cultural Bistro’s annual event is the “Odessa Project” with music from the Balkans, Roma and Yadish Klesmer. Due to the armed conflict in Ukraine, this evening felt very special.
However, AWO’s culture team does not want to limit its cultural activities to the Culture Bistro, but “we also want to organize visits to museums, theater trips, and special concerts at AWO,” says Carla Farrow, of the Culture Team. Works with Zwar Network.
