Danish amateur archaeologist finds pre-Viking treasure with about 1 kg of gold

Using a simple metal detector, an amateur archaeologist discovered in southwestern Denmark, 22 A treasure trove of gold from the 6th century, Before the time of the Vikings.

“It is made of gold objects, including a saucer-sized medal. Many of the symbols are unknown, some of which are unknown.

Between the eighth and twelfth centuries, less than a kilogram of treasure was discovered near the town of Jelling, which historians consider to be the playground of the Viking kings.

According to the museum, “it is one of the largest, richest and most beautiful gold treasures in Danish history.”

The discovery of this amateur archaeologist took place about six months ago, but it has so far been kept secret.

Some objects have runic motifs (the oldest Scandinavian and Germanic letters) and inscriptions referring to the rulers of the time, but reminiscent of Norse mythology.

One part depicts the early Roman emperor Constantine in the fourth century. “The symbolism represented in these objects makes them unique, not quantitative,” Raven said.

According to the museum, some of the pieces are made in a way never seen before. That is why the invention is celebrated.

According to early analysis, at a time when the northern European climate was deteriorating due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland in 536, there may have been an offering to the gods by a local nobleman.

The treasure will be on display at the Wezley Museum from February. It is part of the Wezlemuseern Viking Exhibition, which tells the story of Harald Blueton’s Eastern relations and the early formation of the country, which laid the foundation for the Geraling dynasty.
