Many asteroids larger than the Great Pyramid of Giza will pass through Earth in the coming weeks, including this week.
According to data from NASA Earth Observation CenterThe asteroid 2021 SM3, which was unveiled only last month, will pass over our planet on Friday. The asteroid is 525 feet in diameter and 482 feet slightly larger than the Pyramid of Giza. If an object of this size falls to the ground, it is enough to “cause local damage in the impact zone.”
2021 SM3 is classified as near-Earth From NASA “Comets and asteroids are pushed into orbit by the gravity of nearby planets, allowing them to enter closer to Earth.” All objects are located 120 million miles from Earth.
In the near future, the asteroid will be 3.6 million miles from Earth. Although this may seem like a safe distance, it is much closer than our neighboring planet, Venus, which can reach 74.8 million miles, depending on the orbit of each planet.

2021 SM3 is not the largest asteroid to approach Earth soon. Seven asteroids larger than SM3 will approach the planet by the end of November.
Of all the recently approached asteroids, VB3 will be closest to Earth on October 20, 1996, at a distance of 2.1 million miles. The asteroid is 754 feet in diameter.
The largest asteroid in the coming weeks is 2004 UE, which is 1,246 feet in diameter and a few feet smaller than the Empire State Building. On November 13, 2004, UE will be 2.6 million miles from Earth.
