“USS Connecticut attacked an object on the afternoon of October 2 while submerging in international waters in the Indo-Pacific region,” the U.S. Navy said in a statement. “No fatal injuries,” the statement said, adding that the sailors may have suffered minor injuries.

Regular American patrolling

According to the Naval Institute, a think tank near the U.S. Navy, the USS was participating in an international naval exercise in the South China Sea during the Connecticut incident.
