On Friday, September 3, HSH Prince Albert II was traveling to Dublin, Ireland, with HE Patricia O’Brien, Ambassador to Ireland.

Early in the morning, His Excellency UCD Michael Smoorfit visited the Graduate University, Sir Michael Smoorfit, Honorary Consul of Monaco, President and Dean of this prestigious university. The

He visited the Prince Museum of Literature Ireland (MOLI) for a guided tour of the museum dedicated to Irish literature.

At the end of the morning, at the Irish President’s Michael’s official residence, the Sovereign was welcomed for lunch. They exchanged unusual photos and archival documents.

In the afternoon, Prince HSH and his sons-in-law Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriela went to Trinity College and found an old library led by University Provost Professor Linda Doyle, who presented them with a 9th-century book. The Irish medieval manuscript is famous all over the world.

This national treasure has been on display at the Old Library of Trinity College since 1800. A scroll was presented to the Sovereign in recognition of his philanthropic contribution to the preservation of the Old Library at Trinity College. There was also the inauguration of a fries named after their princes, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene.

This inscription can be seen on the University Beneficiaries Wall located in the dining hall. HSH also unveiled a fries named after Prince Albert II in the gallery of the old library’s long room with the founding donors of the library.

The visit to Dublin is an extension of the existing ties between Trinity College and Monaco. It marks the 60th anniversary of the state visit of the Princess and the Princess in 1961 and the tenth anniversary of the first state visit of Prince Albert II in 2011.
