Thousands of websites return to work after global internet crash – Politics – News

Thousands of Web sites and social networking sites around the world have returned to work after an hour-long breakdown with American cloud computing services company Fastley.

The crash site includes websites that monitor Internet failures (Downdetector.com), Reddit, Amazon, (CNN), PayPal, Spotify, and the New York Times. These sites returned after an interval of a few minutes to an hour.

Fastley, one of the world’s most used content distribution companies, said users will see an increase in downloads as global services gradually return.

“Events like this highlight the weakness of the Internet and its reliance on a patchwork of technology. Ironically, it highlights its power and speed of resolution, ”said Ben Wood, a senior consultant at CCS Insight.

“Such an anomaly makes headlines around the world a rare occurrence,” he added.

The UK Attorney General had earlier tweeted that the British government’s main website was down, and added an email address to his tweet for inquiries.

The Financial Times reported that the crash could have affected British citizens who register for the Kovid-19 vaccine or receive test results.

Fastley’s website showed that most of its coverage areas had already experienced a “performance crash”.

Sites run by media outlets, including the Financial Times, The Guardian and Bloomberg News, were hit by the crashes.

Media organizations have come up with solutions to report widespread malfunctions when sites shut down.

At the beginning of the crash, 21,000 users of the social media platform Reddit reported problems with themselves, and more than 2,000 users reported problems with Amazon.
