More deaths and 242 new cases have not been confirmed in Ireland

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPEET) has confirmed 242 new cases of Kovid-19 in Ireland.

No deaths were reported due to Kovid-19, the statement said.

So far 2,099 Kovid-19 related deaths and 74,468 cases have been confirmed in Ireland.

As of 2 pm today, the hospital had 233 patients with Kovid-19. Of these, 28 are in the intensive care unit.

The 14-day incidence rate is now 80.4 per 100,000 population. The highest incidence is 232.4 in Donegal. The other worst-hit areas in the last two weeks were Kilkenny (172.3) and Lot (156.7).

The lowest incidence is in County Light Trim (15.6).

Today, nine more people with Covid-19 were confirmed dead in Northern Ireland. 397 people tested positive for Kovid-19.

At a press conference tonight, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan said it was a little busier than he thought when he visited Dublin City Center this weekend.

But he added: “We have no reason to believe that there is no high level of compliance.”

“We have the opportunity to do a lot of work now, but that doesn’t mean we have to do it all,” he said. Holohan said.

“If you do all this, you will increase your chances of getting this infection,” he said.

He added that although the number of cases is expected to increase in the new year, there are reasons for optimism. This includes our condition compared to others in Europe and expecting a vaccine in the coming weeks and months.
