3 Death of Portlois Care Home staff

The owners of the Kilminchi Lodge Nursing Home in Port Lloyd’s confirmed that three employees of the house who were Kovid-19 positive died and a quarter were hospitalized for treatment.

The company said in a statement to RTE News that it wants to recognize the medical care provided by Port Louis General Hospital.

He thanked the staff at the nursing home and said, “We have now given their selfless and tireless dedication to the care of our residents.”

It is understood that staff members were asked to stay in hotels to avoid an outbreak.

Killminchi, who owns the Brindley Group, said the nursing home continues to receive public health support and works closely with the Health Service Executive and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA).

There was no change in the number of positively tested residents at the Kilminchi Lodge Nursing Home. In the last seven days, no more residents or staff members have tested positive.

The second round of testing was conducted on October 8, the results were returned on October 10, and no new positive cases were found.

On October 5, twenty-one employees and ten staff members tested positive for Kovid-19.

The company said it had notified the County Coroner in Laois of all deaths that occurred inside the nursing home under the legislation.

After the explosion, sadly, two positive Kovid residents died inside the nursing home, and both deaths were reported to the coroner. An employee died at Port Louis General Hospital, ”the statement said.

The best practices identified since the onset of pandemic have been in line with public health and recommendations from the World Health Organization. The nursing home continues to work with Public Health, HSE and HIQA, ”the company added.

The company said it had not found any Covid-19 cases in the other eight Brindley Group nursing homes, except for one reported last week at Brindley Manor Nursing Home in Donegal.

There has been no change in the condition of the Brindley Manor Nursing Home, which has confirmed 30 cases of Kovid-19.

A spokesman said the vast majority of sufferers had symptoms or mild symptoms, and “everyone is doing well.”
